About our platform

EcoGPT is designed to be a more responsible way to use AI. For most queries, we route through open-source models running on Groq's LPU architecture — purpose-built for inference and architecturally up to 10× more energy-efficient than GPUs.

Our approach

Efficiency first.
Offsets second.

Offsets alone are not a substitute for responsibility. They're a complement. Our first priority is reducing impact through efficient routing, open-source models, and thoughtful system design.

EcoGPT isn’t trying to be the biggest or most powerful AI platform. We’re focused on being a more responsible alternative, one that prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and environmental accountability by design. Instead of racing toward ever-larger models at any cost, we deliver high-quality AI conversations while using resources more thoughtfully and giving back along the way.
Not directly. But we are responding to the reality it’s created. Large AI platforms have prioritized scale and market capture, often with little transparency around energy use or environmental cost. EcoGPT exists for people who want a different option: an AI assistant that remains genuinely useful, but thoughtfully built. There should be room for multiple approaches to AI.
EcoGPT is built by a small, independent team based in NYC. We’re designers, builders, and researchers who are humans first. We believe in technological progress, we just don’t believe it has to come at the expense of sustainable living or long-term responsibility.
We translate EcoGPT usage into real-world environmental impact equivalents. Tree equivalents are tracked per account. Your message count grows your own tree total, independently of other users. Every 100 messages contributes the equivalent of one tree planted, plus proportional CO₂ offset, water restoration, and LED-hour credits.
No. While offsets and environmental contributions are part of our approach, EcoGPT’s first priority is reducing impact through efficiency and thoughtful system design. For most queries, we use open-source models on Groq’s LPU infrastructure, architecturally up to 10× more energy-efficient than GPUs, instead of defaulting to the heaviest possible stack for every request.
EcoGPT works with a network of trusted reforestation organizations including One Tree Planted, American Forests, and Trees for the Future. Together, EcoGPT has already funded more than 16,000 trees, and we’re continuing to expand partnerships with organizations focused on reforestation, conservation, and climate action.
Absolutely. EcoGPT is a living product and we genuinely want to hear from you. As a small team, we actually read and consider what users send, especially early supporters who care about building something better. Email us at team@ecogpt.com.
